The Zoom - Kalmthoutse Heide

The Zoom-Kalmthoutse Heide park consists of an vast nature area with numerous fens, heathlands, inland dunes and woodlands. It is an area with both rare environmental values, and natural and cultural historic importance.

The Dutch border cuts through the area in several places and the land-ownership is very diverse. Nature reserves are under the management of Dutch and Flemish governments, and the large privately owned estates, small scale farmlands and scattered small woodlands are of varied ownership. The park covers approximately 4,000 hectares.

A management plan has been produced in which goals have been set until 2015. The park has been named in the context of the Benelux agreement with regards to conservation and preservation of its landscape.
