Marie Tak van Poortvliet Museum

The Marie Tak van Poortvliet Museum in Domburg borrows its name from the anthroposophist  and agricultural pioneer Marie Tak van Poortvliet who lived from 1871 to 1936. At the beginning of the 20th century, she  had a cottage built in Domburg,  where she spent several summers in the company of the paintress Jacoba van Heemskerck.

Domberg has always attracted many artists. This force of attraction was strengthened by the beauty of the area, the beauty of light on the coast, and its reflection on the land of Walcheren. The capricious dune landscape, the sea which seems to change constantly and the old forests which border the village centre, have inspired many painters, but also poets, composers and writers.
